Here is a cool 'Unnamed' print I call 'Hand' print by artist Self of CNN Graf Crew. This is 12 x 18 inch hand pulled serigraph with an edition size of 100, comes signed and numb ered by the artist for $10 each.
"This photo does not come close to doing the print justice. It was hard to photograph because we textured gloss black throwies on top of the matt black background and slightly darker red throwies over the red background. In certain lighting it looks like solid black and red and in other lighting you can see all the graffiti in the background. Self hand drew the fist, then we took photos of his graffiti on the street and patterned the background of the poster to create an interesting texture. At no point did we vector his graffiti so it kept the nice line quality of his life size spray painted throwies. The clenched fist is not only Self's signature L in his throwies, but also an expression of solidarity, strength and defiance that dates back before WWII. The colors Red, Black and Green are from the Black Liberation Flag designed by UNIA in 1920. Originally representing red for the blood that unites all people of African ancestry, and shed for liberation; black for black people whose existence as a nation, though not a nation-state, is affirmed by the existence of the flag; and green for the abundant natural wealth of Africa. Alternatively, Garvey proposed the colors for the following reasons: "Red because of sympathy for the 'Reds of the world', and the Green their sympathy for the Irish in their fight for freedom, and the Black- [for] the Negro."
